Real Music

If all but the vocals are produced artificially, then I can't consider it true music. By definition, sure, I can't exclude it from the "music" label, but that's as far as I'll go as recognizing it as music. I won't deny the talent it takes to create the beat, but once you get one 30 second clip, it's just copy and pasted. Real music doesn't have that.

Also, by "real music", I mean pretty much anything that is truly heartfelt and not produced to sell records. Basically, anything that's not mainstream can pretty much be classified as music. Sure, there's some good music that's mainstream, but that's few and far between. I'm tired of cookie-cutter, manufactured bands out there capitalizing on a fad and angst. Sure, it's catchy, but it wouldn't sell if it wasn't.

I do respect music that I don't listen to. There are a few genres that I can't stand, but I recognize as needing talent to create it. I'll give credit where credit's due, but mainstream music doesn't deserve it.

I used to listen to mainstream music before I got a clue. It used to be all that I would listen to. Since I listened to real music, I haven't looked back. I'm damn proud of that fact, too.
